Melrose Place Revisted ~ Will You Watch It?
Where have all the writers gone? Â For some reason we are getting regurgitated shows out the wazoo. Â First, we get 90210 and now Melrose Place.
They were both shows I watched a million years ago but how many different combinations of crazy can they cram down our throats?
Best of all? Â We get to see Ashlee Simpson-Wentz on TV. Â I know you are all just squealing with excitement. Â Other than being Jessica’s sister and lip-syncing on SNL, I don’t really know that much about her so I’ll reserve my judgement for after the show airs.
Here is an excerpt from the CW’s description of the show:
Melrose Place - In an elegant Spanish-style apartment building in the trendy Melrose neighborhood of Los Angeles, a diverse group of 20-somethings have formed a close-knit surrogate family. Sydney Andrews (Laura Leighton, the original Melrose Place) is the landlady, still beautiful at 40, and a central figure in the lives of all her tenants, especially handsome and rebellious David Breck (Shaun Sipos, Shark). [Hold up!  Didn't Sydney die??]  Sydney started an affair with David despite her turbulent history with his estranged father, Dr. Michael Mancini (Thomas Calabro, the original Melrose Place). Both father and son learned through experience that Sydney was not above using blackmail to control people. Another tenant, high-powered publicist Ella Simms (Katie Cassidy, Supernatural), once considered Sydney her mentor, but their friendship was destroyed by betrayal, and Sydney threatened to evict Ella and ruin her career. Sydney also played a pivotal role in the career of Auggie Kirkpatrick (Colin Egglesfield, All My Children). After they met at an AA meeting, she became Auggie’s sponsor and encouraged his dream to become a chef. Now a successful sous chef at the trendy restaurant Coal, Auggie has been avoiding Sydney since she began drinking again.Â
The other tenants include Lauren Yung (Stephanie Jacobsen, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), a medical student in desperate need of money to pay her student loans, and Jonah Miller (Michael Rady, Swingtown), an aspiring filmmaker who has just proposed to his live-in girlfriend Riley Richmond (Jessica Lucas, Cloverfield), a first-grade teacher. The newest tenant, 18-year-old Violet Foster (Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, 7th Heaven)
[Well, I missed that!  I had no idea Ms. Ashlee actually had acting experience, must be the rock I'm living under], has just arrived in LA with her own secret connection to Sydney. When a bloody body is found floating in the courtyard pool, David is the leading suspect. However, as the police are soon to discover, almost everyone living at Melrose Place had a reason to want the deceased out of the way. An updated version of the popular 1990s series, MELROSE PLACEis from CBS Television Studios with executive producers Todd Slavkin & Darren Swimmer (Smallville). Oscar-winner Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth) is the director and executive producer of the pilot.Â
So now you can commence with your summertime activities knowing this gem of regurgitation will be waiting for you in the fall when you plop your bootie down for some more good trash TV. Â I’ll be putting it up for Tivo and will give it a chance because you know, I’m nothing if not addicted to trashy TV. Â Will you be watching? Â What shows are you looking forward to in the fall?

AI Junkies, Out Yourselves!
I am a closet American Idol junkie.Oooops, I guess I’m outing myself!
Yes, friends, I watch American Idol. Â I don’t know why I like it, I just do. Â I usually skim the audition shows and really don’t get into it until the top 12, but once the season really gets started I am all about it.Â
I am a TIVO fanatic – can’t stand wasting time on commercials and if something bores me I just skim over it.  Tonight I fast forwarded through most of the final decisions on season 8 contestants. Â
The overdone drama is seriously annoying. Â The whole, “we are so sorry, this is so hard to say, you’ve had ups and downs and you know how you did. Â Keep in mind that this is really a hard decision for us …… (cue suspense music and nail biting)…. so, sorry but … but…. WELCOME TO SEASON 8!!!”
Over and over and over this same annoying set-up.
 Â
At least I’m loyal enough to fast forward through it and not just delete it. Â
I don’t really get attached to anyone this early in the season and rarely remember anyone’s name. Â There are always some characters that annoy the poop out of me but this season there is one chick that, when they told her she was going through, I actually felt like I might vomit in my mouth a bit. Â That girl, Tatiana Deltoro? Â (I apologize if I’ve misspelled her name.) Â She is kind of like an overly hyper puppy that might piddle at your feet any moment. Â Her wacky laugh makes me think of the sound a mile long train putting it’s breaks on at 150 mph might make. Â She isn’t a horrible singer but to be honest, I was so distracted by her quirkiness that I can’t really think of what my opinion on her singing is! Â
Lordy, you have to wonder if someone shouldn’t have shown her the video from the first auditions. Â You’d think some kind soul would have pulled her aside and mentioned that she might want to take a valium before her next appearance on national television. Â
I always feel a little bad for the people they trash on the show but I feel extremely uncomfortable about this girl. Â For her sake, I hope the handlers/coaches/style folks on the show can give this girl a little advice. Â If I were one of the coaches on that show I’d beg to be assigned to Tatiana. Â Someone save that girl from the shameful mockery! Â I am anxious to see how she does….
Out yourself AI junkies! Â I’ll still respect you in the morning!
